1210CMF – A Common Mode Choke for CAN FD and Other Data-Communication Technologies

FASTRON announces its 1210CMF series, a new common mode choke for data communication in a typical chip inductor design, with dimensions of 3.6 x 2.7 x 2.95mm. Due to inductance values of 11µH, 80µH, and 100µH, the common mode chokes mainly apply to CAN- and CAN FD bus systems, but as well as to FlexRay, A2B, and other data communication technologies. Additional applications for the 1210CMF are wideband noise suppression, filtering and EMC protection.

The 1210CMF has two parallel copper windings, wound as a single-layer providing a symmetric coil. A ferrite plate on top of the ferrite core works as a magnetic shield and allows for pick-and-place assembly. The typical impedance @10MHz of the 1210CMF ranges depending on inductance value from 550Ω (@11µH) to 5100Ω (@100µH). The DCR varies from 0.4Ω to 2.3Ω, and the rated current ranges from 150mA to 300mA.

Common to all 1210CMF is an insulation resistance of a minimum of 10MΩ, a leakage inductance of typical 0.13µH and a rated voltage of 80VDC. Notably is the low winding capacitance of 12pF, applying to all three inductance values of the 1210CMF.

The operational temperature range is -40°C to +150°C, including self-heating. The 1210CMF is suitable for lead-free soldering, RoHS compliant, and AEC-Q200 qualified.
